MODICIA O.S. is distributed as free and open source software. You may download, install, and use the operating system without license fees.

By using MODICIA O.S. you automatically accept the following terms:

The software is provided “as is,” without express or implied warranties, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
The developers and contributors are not responsible for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages, including but not limited to data loss, profit loss, or business interruption.
You may redistribute MODICIA O.S. provided that you respect the open source licenses of its components.
You agree not to use MODICIA O.S. for unlawful purposes, including but not limited to activities that infringe intellectual property rights, violate privacy, or cause harm to third parties.
You agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations when using MODICIA O.S.
You acknowledge that MODICIA O.S. may include third-party software, each governed by its own license terms.
No support or maintenance is guaranteed. Any assistance provided is voluntary and without obligation.
MODICIA O.S. may change, update, or discontinue features at any time without prior notice.
By installing MODICIA O.S., you accept full responsibility for securing your data, backups, and system configuration.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MODICIA Company, its developers, and contributors from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from your use or misuse of the software.
You agree not to attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise tamper with the system in ways that violate applicable licenses.
You acknowledge that export control laws may apply and agree not to distribute MODICIA O.S. in violation of such laws.
These terms are governed by the laws of Italy and the European Union. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of Monza, Italy.
If any provision of these terms is found invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
MODICIA Company reserves the right to terminate your use of MODICIA O.S. if you violate these terms.

Exclusive Features and Licensing

MODICIA O.S. includes a series of unique graphical tools developed internally by the MODICIA O.S. Project team and released to the open source community under dual licensing: Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) and GNU General Public License v3 (GPL) . These licenses must be respected absolutely. Redistribution, modification, or reuse of these tools is permitted only under the conditions set forth by CC-BY and GPL3.

Exclusive tools include, but are not limited to:

MODICIA O.S. Control Panel – graphical and terminal utilities for system management and optimization.
Total Menu Launcher – full-screen application search interface.
WineHQ Manager – graphical installer/remover for WineHQ and Winetricks.
Preload Control – GUI utility to manage the Preload service.
Syncthing Service Control – one-click management of Syncthing service.
RT Kernel Checker – checks availability of Linux real-time kernels.
Swappiness Control – adjust Linux swappiness values between 10% and 60%.
SSD TRIM Control – enable/disable periodic TRIM operations for SSDs.
ZRAM Control – enable/disable ZRAM compression for memory efficiency.
Extra Font Installer – installs over 2500 additional fonts.
Wine Dark Theme Installer – applies dark theme to Wine applications.
AMD GPU Checker – detects AMD GPUs and drivers.
NVIDIA Driver Installer – detects NVIDIA GPUs and installs recommended drivers.
AppImage Menu Integrator – integrates AppImage applications into system menu.
Kernel Manager – lock/unlock Linux kernels and view blocked packages.
Theme Switcher – switch between light and dark desktop themes.
System Updater – terminal utility using Nala for updates.
Dock Preferences – configure Plank dock settings.
Hardware Info (inxi) – detailed system information via terminal.
Wi-Fi Driver Installer – detects and installs missing Wi-Fi drivers.
Rescue File Recovery – launches PhotoRec for file recovery.
Package Manager – lightweight GTK application for APT package management.
File System Check – schedule fsck at next reboot with GUI.
Language Switcher – GTK application to change system/user language.
Defrag File System – GTK utility for defragmenting disks and files.
Gigi AI Assistant – GTK application for integrated AI interaction.

All these tools are designed to be intuitive, multilingual, and seamlessly integrated into the MODICIA O.S. desktop environment. Any violation of the CC-BY + GPL3 licensing terms will result in immediate termination of rights and potential legal action.

Legal Notice

This site is built with HTML5 and hosted on a Linux server. It was developed and is maintained using software included in MODICIA O.S., such as BlueGriffon and FileZilla. All trademarks and logos displayed on this site are the property of their respective owners. For any issues, please contact us and we will resolve them promptly.

The multimedia content on this site (including text, images, and videos) is protected by copyright and must not be reproduced, redistributed, or used in any way that is offensive, defamatory, or harmful to MODICIA O.S. In the event of a violation, immediate legal action will be taken directly by Modicia Company, which owns the trademark and all rights, as well as the exclusive authorizations granted by its clients and represented companies, seeking compensation for reputational damage, lost profits, and legal expenses incurred in enforcing its rights. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of Monza, Italy.

MODICIA O.S. is based on Debian and distributed without modifications to the original source code. It is provided “as is,” without any explicit or implied warranties, including merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. It is free to use, provided the licenses associated with each software component are respected. The authors are not liable for any data loss, profit loss, or other damages resulting from the use or misuse of this operating system.

Debian source code is publicly available. Source code for additional packages can be found on their respective developers’ websites (Source code Debian - Linux). “MODICIA O.S.” and the MODICIA logo are registered trademarks of the MODICIA Project. This site is community-managed; MODICIA Company is not responsible for its content and does not participate in the distribution of the community ISO.

IP Address Collection

For technical and security reasons, MODICIA O.S. and its associated official websites automatically record IP addresses.

These data are used exclusively for statistical and monitoring purposes, to improve services and prevent abuse. They are not shared with third parties and are not used for profiling or personal identification.

Logs are stored securely and are accessible only to authorized administrators. By continuing to use MODICIA O.S. or related web services, you accept this method of processing technical access data, in compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).

Additional Standard and Generic Provisions

The following additional provisions, while largely implicit or covered by the open source licenses of the components (GPL, etc.) or the terms of use specified above, are included for completeness:

Exclusion of Legal and De Facto Warranty: The user acknowledges that the Software may contain bugs, errors, defects, or other limitations. MODICIA O.S. offers no express or implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement of third-party rights in any jurisdiction.
User Responsibility for Compliance: The user is solely responsible for verifying that the use of MODICIA O.S. and its components complies with all applicable local and international laws, regulations, statutes, and standards, including those relating to privacy and data security.
No Performance Guarantee: There is no guarantee that the Software will meet the user's specific requirements, that performance will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that defects will be corrected.
Waiver of Claims: By using the Software, the user irrevocably waives any claim against MODICIA Company, its developers, contributors, and affiliates, for any damage arising from the use or inability to use the Software.
Future Changes and Updates: MODICIA Company reserves the right to modify these terms at any time and without prior notice. Continued use of the Software after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Nature of Agreements: These terms constitute the entire agreement between the user and MODICIA Company regarding the use of MODICIA O.S. and supersede any prior or contemporaneous communication or agreement, whether oral or written, concerning the subject matter herein.
Obligation to Maintain Copyright Notices: The user must maintain all copyright, trademark, and other proprietary notices included in the Software intact.

Use of the Software in any manner constitutes full and unconditional acceptance of all terms and conditions set forth herein.

Privacy Policy (GDPR)

1. Data Controller

The controller of the personal data collected through this website is Modicia Company.

2. Data Processing via the Contact Form

This website provides a contact form for information requests.
Types of data processed: Email address and message content.
Purpose of processing: The data is processed solely to respond to specific user requests, provide assistance, or share information about MODICIA O.S. products and services.
Legal basis for processing: Implementation of pre-contractual measures at the data subject’s request (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), or explicit consent provided by the user when submitting the form.
Storage method: Data submitted via the form is not stored in the website database. It is transmitted exclusively via email to the designated recipients and retained in the email inbox for a maximum of 12 months following resolution of the request, for administrative purposes and to manage any disputes. Users have the right to request earlier deletion.

3. Use of Cookies and Analytics Tools (Google Analytics)

This website uses Google Analytics (Google LLC) as a third-party analytics tool to collect information about how users interact with the site, in order to improve its performance and usability.
Type of cookie: Analytics cookies (third-party).
Data collected: Anonymized IP addresses, session duration, pages visited, traffic source.
Legal basis: Prior user consent, collected via the Cookie Banner (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Requirement for consent: Tracking via Google Analytics is enabled only with the user’s explicit consent.
External data processor: Google has been appointed as a data processor and is contractually committed to GDPR compliance (Data Processing Agreements). Data may be transferred outside the EU (to the United States), subject to standard contractual clauses to ensure adequate protection.
